CAG Accelerating Clinical Integration of Cell and Gene Therapies (ATMP)
The Clinical Academic Group for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (CAG-ATMP) unites leading hospitals, universities, and public stakeholders to build Denmark’s first coordinated ecosystem for developing and implementing advanced therapies-including cell and gene therapies as well as regenerative medicine. Although the scientific potential of ATMPs is enormous, real-world access remains limited due to fragmented infrastructure, complex regulation, high production costs, and a lack of clinical and public readiness. CAG-ATMP addresses these barriers through three integrated work packages.
First, it will develop flexible technology platforms for scalable, next-generation ATMPs-including immune cell therapies, gene editing, and iPSC-derived regenerative treatments. These platforms are designed to be adapted across diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, neurological conditions, and rare genetic diseases.
Second, the CAG will create a joint clinical research platform to enable early-phase ATMP trials across partner hospitals, supported by standardized protocols, patient access pathways, and ethics-ready governance. Clinical entry points include oncology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, infectious disease, and more.
Third, CAG-ATMP will design training, certification, and public engagement tools to prepare health professionals, regulators, and patients for safe and equitable ATMP adoption.
Together, these efforts will create long-term value for Danish patients and society, turning cutting-edge science into real-world treatments for those with the greatest unmet medical needs.
